Bishop Lucey Park is an important green area and historical site for the city of Cork. As part of the redevelopment, we wanted to emphasize the medieval city wall, a monument within the park, by reinterpreting how it once looked. This was done by hanging a steel frame structure covered in the foliage above the archaeological site, and adding a viewing tower where the medieval tower would have been. The new green wall now becomes the border of the park where the free space in front is a gathering point and the former arched entrance of the park is transformed into a stage. The tower would give a unique view down Grand Parade and connect the park with an elevated walkway. This walkway was inspired by Celtic knotwork interlace and the idea that everything is connected in a continuous loop. The park offers lots of smaller areas for different use, all the while keeping everything visually connected and also preserving almost all of the existing trees by interlacing the structure around them.

Layers / Zones of the park:
- Solar path - connects the park with the rest of the city by a path following the medieval river flow. The pavement collects sunlight during the day and emits a blue glow at night, giving a guide to the medieval city borders to pedestrians walking around the center;
- Ground level - is kept more natural with open green areas and a water feature;
- Elevated walkway - stretches from the Cork Archive institute to the tower at Grand Parade and gives a more structured path offering different activities along the way;
- Floral area - creates a gradual climb from the South Main to the elevated walkway, and with its wide free levels becomes a space for an outdoor market;
